Colin Meloy

What up! I went to Colin Meloy's solo show last night. All and I'll I'd have have to admit it was fairly fantastic. It was basically an acoustic Decemberist's show. Although he kept referring to Chicago as Shit-Town, which I found highly annoying. Also to the drunk retarded guy behind.... Thanks for the wonderful evening.

Now I know why Canada sucks....

Or how I almost managed to get frostbite....

This past weekend was a pretty bland weekend for morning eatery experiences. I ended up at Boundary on Saturday morning. I went there to meet a state senate candidate, what trying to go around the district and drum up support. He had some interesting stuff to say... To bad I'm not registered to vote. But I did enjoy the free coffee.

My last weekend brunch experience

Well last weekend went well... The first stop on the weekend was the fantastic restaurant called Flo. We were served by an old lady, who possibly owns the place, because she sure was barking out orders to everyone. Which brings up an interesting point, is this woman named Flo? But then shouldn't the place be called Flo's? Eh whatever.....

Anyway the food was good, I went with my standby the Green Enchiladas. "brunch and bitch" companion went with the goat cheese and artichoke omelet. All in all the food was good, although I did think her omelet was missing something. I think my opinion of a place is in direct relationship to how many bloody mary's I drink.

Now it comes to the bitch session.

First to set the mood, it's like 20F outside. Myself and my friends decided to hit up Abe Fohromans Sausage joint for breakfast. The allure being the website where some old guy is totally sausage goobling a foot long weiner. The ironic part as being that this place also doesn't serve sausage. Anyway... We make the mile long trek, only to find out it CLOSED! Honestly, I can understand if it were 8:30 and they didn't open till nine, but seriously it was nearly noon and I was about to expire from hunger. Minus one point for my Sunday Brunch experience. Rather than waste our time outside, we made the effort to walk down to the Black Beetle on Chicago. We must have walked in the snow for 20 minutes, only to find out that damn restaurant was also closed! Minus 2 points.

So at this point I'm ready to start gnawing on my arm, it's freezing and we're way the hell west on Chicago. So the excutive decesion was made to take a cab over to Karoush on Milwaukee. Which was funny because this was discussed as being our first destination anyway. Oh the fun of walking 50 minutes in the snow, and spending 10 bucks for a cab! Brunch at Karoush, if you've never had it is quite good. Although it never changes, except for you vegetarians were they like to screw you over by randomly adding chicken broth to dishes.
